This book fills a gap in our knowledge of some European women political essayists, novelists, artists and a French film maker during the twenty years between the two World Wars. As such it is another contribution to hundreds of scholarly texts whose research aim has been to recover the history of women’s creative writing as well as their writing on politics and culture. Most of these established texts already make up the core curriculum in Women’s Studies programmes at many universities.
