Aquí se habla: Centering the Local and Personal in Spanish Language Education is an edited volume in the Critical Approaches in Applied Linguistics series that foregrounds the many tensions surrounding Spanish language education in the United States from a decidedly critical perspective. The book skillfully conjugates diverse and innovative methodological strategies to push the boundaries of what is conventionally considered legitimate knowledge – and of how such knowledge is produced – within academia. By combining research with advocacy, the volume calls upon educators and other relevant actors to center marginalized Spanish speakers across contexts. Its contributors are predominantly scholars of color, particularly women, whose diverse voices stand as a testament to the collection’s commitment to equity and justice.
